Winneshiek County Conservation will be hosting a walk at Hayden Prairie on Sunday, May 23 at 2:00 pm. Join naturalist Larry Reis in wandering the prairie to look for unique blooming wildflowers and nesting grassland birds.
Hayden Prairie is a state preserve and is one of the largest unplowed sections of pristine tallgrass prairie in Iowa. It is located in Howard County near Lime Springs. Please meet at the parking lot with the kiosk, approximately 5 miles west of Lime Springs on 50th Street/A23.
This event is free and no registration is required. Hayden Prairie has no trails, so please dress appropriately for walking through long grass. Participants are welcome to bring binoculars.
All participants are asked to practice social distancing and wear a mask when appropriate.
