Hunter Education Course
Are you interested in obtaining your hunting license soon? Do you want to learn more about wildlife, first aid, and hunting safety? Visit the DNR site at this link for more information and to register online for this 2-day Hunter Education class taught by Winneshiek County Conservation staff on August 1st and 2nd from 1-5 pm each day at the Calmar Fire Station. Participants must attend both days of this course and pass the test to receive certification.
Hunter Education is a mandatory program for hunters that is designed to introduce students to several life-long skills that are important to many different types of outdoor recreational opportunities. The course teaches students basic survival and first aid skills, water safety, wildlife identification, the basics of wildlife management, hunting laws and firearm/archery safety. Hunter education also stresses the importance of individual responsibility and outdoor ethics.
