Kayaking at Cardinal Marsh

Kayak at Cardinal Marsh

UPDATE 7/7/23: The kayak class is full. We will meet at the marsh’s west parking area and boat ramp about 50 yards south of the Turkey River bridge on County Line Road (345th Ave). The access is unmarked and dead ends at the boat ramp.

Winneshiek County Conservation will host a kayak program at Cardinal Marsh Wildlife Management Area on Sunday, July 9th at 2:00 pm.

The program will be a unique opportunity to explore Cardinal Marsh in a new way, getting up close with the various waterfowl, songbirds, and other wildlife that call it home. It will be an excellent opportunity to birdwatch, photograph, and enjoy the marsh from the water.

It is highly recommended that participants have prior experience kayaking for this program as it will focus on bird- and wildlife-watching, not kayak instruction. Bring binoculars if you would like to use them while kayaking.

The program is free but space is limited and reservations are required by noon on Friday, July 7th without exception. Please call (563) 534-7145 to reserve a kayak.

In case of inclement weather, this program will be cancelled.
