Leaf Casting 2-Day Workshop
UPDATE: Please bring your own large leaf to make a cast if you have one available! The large leaves of rhubarb, elephant ear plants, monstera, catalpa trees, or burdock work well. We will have some leaves to choose from for those who don’t bring their own.
Leaf casting, a process which uses a real leaf to make a concrete mold, creates a durable and unique concrete stepping stone or bird bath to add to your garden. Join Winneshiek County Conservation on August 3rd and 8th at 6:00 pm at Lake Meyer Park to create your own leaf cast birdbath or stepping stone. During the first session on Thursday, August 3rd, participants will setup and pour their castings. In the second session on Tuesday, August 8th, we will reveal the castings and paint them to take home for outdoor use.
Participants must attend both sessions. This program is for ages 8 and older. Youth between the ages of 8-15 must attend with an adult parent or caretaker.
Materials are limited, so please call ahead to register by August 2nd. There is a materials fee of $30 to create a leaf cast as part of this workshop. Payment must be made at the time of the first session. Call 563-534-7145 to register.
Participants will meet at the Lake Meyer Campground Shop. Dress in clothing that can get dirty.
