Wild Foraging at Lake Meyer
UPDATE: This event is ON for tonight despite the cold weather. Please bundle up as we expect temperatures in the low 40s, high winds, and muddy trails. We look forward to foraging for nettles, garlic mustard, dandelions, and more!
Forage for wild edible plants with Winneshiek County Conservation naturalists at 5:30 pm on Thursday, April 20th at Lake Meyer Park & Campground.
The foraging hike will begin promptly at 5:30 pm, departing from the campground shelter to explore the trails around Lake Meyer. After the hike, we will bring our finds back to the shelter to cook and taste-test.
The event is free and open to all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver. The trails at Lake Meyer are unpaved and may be slippery. Participants should wear clothes and shoes appropriate for a muddy trail.
Registration is required. Please call the Winneshiek County Conservation office at (563) 534-7145 to let us know you plan on attending. Please meet at the Lake Meyer Campground shelter at 5:30 pm for this event.
In case of poor weather conditions, this event will be postponed to Thursday, April 27th at 5:30 pm. Watch the Winneshiek County Conservation website or Facebook page for any changes in plans due to weather.
