Winneshiek County Conservation offers summer internships with a variety of work and training. Spend the summer of 2025 with a fun, professional staff while building your job skills and your resume!
POSITIONS INCLUDE
- Park Intern – maintenance of county areas and facilities, including mowing, trimming, cleaning, painting, etc., as well as assisting with natural resource management and naturalist programming.
- Naturalist Intern – environmental education, including planning and assisting with programs and activities for summer camps, libraries, public programs, and at a county fair booth, as well as assisting with maintenance, resource management, trail counts, and administrative work as assigned.
DETAILS
- Flexible start and end dates; 12-14 week position begins April/May and ends August/September.
- 40 hour work week (non-routine week including some weekends, evenings, and holidays).
- Housing is available for additional park upkeep.
- Salary is $11.00-$14.00/hr, depending on qualifications. No benefits.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicant must be 18 years old, have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., possess a valid Iowa driver’s license, and maintain an acceptable driving record. Certification in First Aid and CPR desired but not required. Preferred applicants be enrolled in or have a degree in one of the following: ecology, forestry, recreation, park management, environmental studies, or other natural sciences. Applicant will undergo a background check.
